Private builds · by application

A business runs on numbers it can actually read.

Vela for Business builds the system underneath a small business: what comes from each client, what each offer really costs, what the month made, and what the next one is likely to make. Built by a financial controller, for owners who are not accountants.

The problem

The business is working. The numbers are somewhere else.

Invoices in one folder, expenses in a banking app, clients in a notes app, prices decided by memory. At the end of the month there is a figure in the account and no explanation behind it.

That is not a bookkeeping problem. An accountant files what already happened. Nothing tells the owner which offer is carrying the business, which client costs more than it pays, or what next quarter can afford.

What gets built

One system, built around how this business actually works.

A money tracker

Income and spending logged once, tagged by client, offer and category. Entered by hand, one line at a time, in a file that opens in seconds.

A P&L view

Revenue, direct costs, fixed costs, margin. The controller's view of the month, reading itself from the tracker with no re-typing.

Offer and client economics

What each offer earns after what it costs to deliver, and what each client is worth across a year rather than a single invoice.

A forecast

Committed work, expected work, and the gap between them, so hiring, stock and price decisions are made on a number rather than a feeling.

A dashboard

One screen for the month: in, out, kept, and the two or three figures this particular business needs to watch.

A way to keep it alive

A short weekly and monthly routine, written down, so the system survives a busy month instead of being abandoned in one.

An example month

What the owner opens at the end of the month.

One screen: what each offer brought in, what it cost to deliver, what the month kept, and where it landed against the plan.

Ready to wear is the only line under plan. Two repairs covered it.

Illustrative figures, not a client’s. Every build is shaped around the offers and costs of the business it is built for.

How it runs

Four steps, about four weeks.

  1. 01

    Application and call

The form below, then a sixty-minute call to see the business as it is: offers, clients, prices, what is tracked and what is not.

  2. 02

    Design

The structure is mapped and agreed before anything is built: the categories, the tags, the views, and the figures the owner will actually use.

  3. 03

    Build

The system is built with real figures from the business, not sample data, so the first month is already readable on handover.

  4. 04

    Handover

A working session, a recorded walkthrough and a written routine. Thirty days of questions answered afterwards at no extra cost.

Scope

Three builds.

Solo Founder

One person, a handful of offers, no employees. A freelancer, a consultant, a solo service business.

Lean Business

A small team or a product line to track, with stock, subcontractors or several revenue streams.

Established Business

Several people, several lines, and decisions that need a forecast rather than a balance.

The build is priced on the call, once the scope is known. Fifty percent on signature, fifty percent before delivery. An optional advisory retainer is available after handover, month to month.

Who this is for

Owners who want to read the business, not just run it.

Solo founders, freelancers and small service businesses turning over enough that the decisions now matter: what to raise, what to stop selling, what the next hire costs, whether the good month was actually a good month.

It is not bookkeeping, tax filing or accounting, and it does not replace an accountant. It does not involve investment advice. It is the management layer that sits between the bank account and the decisions.
